Motion carried. 16 DISCUSS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT VACANCY: The County Board accepted the letter of resignation from Ron Rockwell for the Board of Adjustment at the last county board meeting. County Building Inspector Max Boerson has an alternate member for the board of adjustment and in the past he has made a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to use the alternate member for the replacement. Mr. Boerson would like to move his current alternate, Don Deitemeyer, to fill the vacancy on the Board of Adjustment and then recommend an alternate to the County Board for their approval. Discussion was held on advertising for the positions. Lancaster stated that the alternate would know what the job entails and it would make sense to move him to the board position. Lancaster made a motion and Logan seconded to follow Max Boerson's recommendation to move the alternate up to the board and the County Board picks the alternate for the Board of Adjustment. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan all voted yes and Landis voted no. Motion carried. 18 APPROVE CLAIM FOR HALL CO. AIRPORT: County Clerk Marla Conley explained that this claim is for grant funds that were electronically transferred to the County Treasurer's office on November 6. The request for the funds was signed and submitted to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and were received. Lancaster made a motion and Jeffries seconded to approve the claim for the Hall County Airport in the amount of $55,199.00 for the grant funds. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. 19 DISCUSS CO. BUILDING DISPLAY: Lancaster stated she would like to see the county buildings have a Christmas display. She would like to see large wreaths on the buildings. She checked one business and the wreaths are less than $15.00 apiece so this could be done at a minimal cost. The Hall County Park is beautiful but it would be nice to address the other buildings. Lancaster made a motion and Logan seconded to purchase wreaths from miscellaneous general fund from the miscellaneous line item. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. Jeffries stated that a second item under this topic he would like to see done, is to light the tower on the courthouse like tower at St. Mary's Cathedral. Jeffries stated he had talked to an electrician and this project could be done. Landis made a motion and Lancaster seconded to authorize Bud Jeffries to check on the lighting of the Courthouse tower year round. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. 15 COMMENCE AUDIT OF MONTHLY CLAIMS AND ACTION ON CLAIM AUDIT: The board members reviewed the monthly claims. Logan thanked the computer committee for the spreadsheet explaining the expenditures the amount paid to ABACUS. The board reviewed the medical expenses from the jail. Discussion was held on contacting the legislature on the cost of medical expenses to counties. The County Board authorized Lonnie Logan to draft a letter to our state senators and to NACO addressing this matter. Logan made a motion and Jeffries seconded to approve the claims as audited. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
