5.DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION 26-015 FOR
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR KGI WIRELESS/VERIZON WIRELESS — Sorensen
made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve Resolution #26-015 for the
conditional use permit for KGI Wireless/Verizon Wireless. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster,
Peterson, Quandt, and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Richardson was
not present. Motion carried.
10. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE NIRMA BILLING FOR 2026 —
The board received information from NIRMA regarding the renewal. Included was a
chart regarding the deductible levels. Discussion was held regarding increasing the
deductible on auto physical damage but it did not show if there would be cost savings.
They will contact NIRMA to see if there would be cost savings. The county does have
numerous vehicles with physical damage.
Lancaster made a motion and Hurst seconded to approve the NIRMA renewal at
$812,871.00 subject to decision on increasing deductible amount. Bredthauer, Hurst,
Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt, and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no.
Richardson was not present. Motion carried.
14.DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING ADDITIONAL PAY FOR DON
SHUDA FOR STATE CEMETERY CONSTRUCTION - Hurst expressed concern that
Don Shuda is still getting paid. He was to oversee construction in case there were
problems. We do not have anything to do with the cemetery now. We need to
reconsider the additional pay.
Quandt stated there was a concern that the $750,000 that Hall County raised was going
to be moved somewhere else and Don was to oversee it to make sure it was being used
correctly. The cemetery was dedicated in October. This was to be for a certain amount
of time and once over it is over. Quandt noted he has also received some phone calls
about the statue, and some people are upset and think it is not correct. Don receives
over $600.00 a month for doing this. It is the start of a new year and needs to be
reconsidered.
Peterson said these funds come from the other counties and it was his understanding
that Hall County does not have any control over these funds It is the veterans
committee that oversees the funds.
Sorensen stated he made the motion to authorize the veteran's committee to oversee
the funds.
Mike Ponte said he is the chair of the veteran's service committee at the last meeting
they approved this. He said the board should have received copies of the minutes.
Lancaster said the board did not get any copies. This was approved in September 2023
and the county board approved it. Mike said they are still having problems with the
6
