DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING INFORMATION FROM HALL <br /> COUNTY RURAL TRANSIT— Bob McFarland was present and explained that the <br /> Nebraska Department of Transportation receives FTA funds for the 5311 rural transit <br /> and 5311(f) intercity bus programs annually. 15% of the funds automatically go to <br /> intercity bus. In the past there were carryover funds but because of the growth of public <br /> transit across the state there are no carryover funds and the CARS funds were <br /> depleted. <br /> For FY2026 NDOT received requests totaling $18,776,989. 00 in Federal funds. NDOT <br /> received request for $10,628.775.00 in Federal Funds. NDOT was forced to reduce the <br /> FY 2026 awards by 30% across the state. NDOT operates on a 2-year funding cycle. <br /> For 2026 the FTA award is $11,996,479.00 for 5311 programs, so it was reduced by <br /> 21%. For FY 2027 they have $9.4 M but NDOT received 2027 request of <br /> $20,527.775.00. The state has covered other expenses but now they are operating on <br /> the funds that are received. NDOT is working on a formula-based structure for <br /> FY2028/2029. <br />
