the chiller gets us through that first payment on the HVAC system and then in the end
with that $500,000.00 there will be $255,000.00 left that we will need to figure out before
October 1st when the project will be done which if our numbers hold through the
summer as far as that revenue that should easily take care of that.
Bahensky also stated that he was talking to their phone service provider, they do the
tablets and all that sort of stuff is there's an FCC regulations that changed they can
charge for phone and video visitation the most they can charge is 21 cents a minute for
video, and 13 cents a minute for phone, then the most they pay us is 2 cents which we
use to get 40%. Bahensky stated he had conversation with Encartele and they put
together a contract for us they are splitting out the cost of phone and video with some of
that other revenue we get which is not regulated, they have to put some work in to see
what cost would be by the minute they don't do it by the minute they sell data and by the
megabytes, they would turn around and do about the opposite of what they are charging
us for the phone and video, they would give us all but a couple of cents on the rest of
the revenue. Bahensky stated it will still be short of what they are bringing in now, there
are some other revenues to be had their other things they can open up. Bahensky
stated that after talking with their mental health people they were looking at providing
inmates with some coping type of stuff such as sudoku and crossword puzzles to help
keep minds on something else and this stuff is available on the tablets, they could open
up some of those games, they don't generate any revenue right now, but by having
those available they could pull revenue off them, they are pushing for us to do more
video type stuff like movies and stuff which is the revenue is really to be made, so that is
something we may want to look at moving forward.
Marty Klein asked if this was a new regulation?
Todd stated yes as of April 1st it went into effect.
Marty asked if this was National or State
Todd stated National as he understood it
Gary Quandt said he questioned this when it started and thought it was going to be
educational and then the sheriff talked to us and he said there were some benefits for
the sheriff well now were doing video games and movies and everything else. They're in
jail for a reason.
Todd stated they are not doing it yet, he was just putting out there
Gary stated the original deal was when we started this, it was going to be education and
we're going to be making some money to help support the jail, now, we're finding out
we're making 2 cents a minute and they're making how much minute? 40 something.
don't believe this is what the county board originally approved Quandt stated.
