24.DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING CLASSIFICATION COMMITTEE <br /> RECOMMENDATION — Sarah Carstensen stated that the classification committee <br /> address 2 departments that request changes regarding job description and setting the <br /> ranges. <br /> The public defender requested to address the job description for Secretary 1 and Office <br /> Manager. Their job descriptions had not been changed since 1999. Their workload has <br /> changed because of the electronic filings. <br /> The County Treasurer is requesting to add a job description for the County Treasurer <br /> Real estate/ motor vehicle representative. She is cross training employees to help the <br /> work flow. <br /> The Classification committee recommend to approve the following. <br /> Public Defender Office manager to set on Range 13 <br /> Public Defender Secretary 1 to set on Range 6 <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Sorensen seconded to change the Public Defender <br /> Office manager from Range 10 to Range 13 and to change the Public Defender <br /> Secretary 1 from Range 3 to Range 6. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Petersen, <br /> Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> County Treasurer Alaina Verplank is proposing to add the job description County <br /> Treasurer Real Estate/ Motor Vehicle Representative and set it on Range 4. She is <br /> cross training employees to help with the work load at busy times of the year. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Sorensen seconded to approve the new job description <br /> for County Treasurer Real Estate/Motor Vehicle Representative to set it on Range 4. <br /> Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Petersen, Richardson and Sorensen all voted <br /> yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Lancaster stated the county may need to do a new salary study. <br /> 4. COUNTY ATTORNEY—A) DISCUSSION AND ACTION REGARDING PUBLIC <br /> DEFENDER SOFTWARE CONTRACT — Deputy County Attorney Sarah Carstensen <br /> stated that this is still on hold. He said that she would like to move forward on the <br /> proposed changes to the County Handbook. She would like to meet with elected and <br /> appointed department heads and key office staff to go over the proposed changes and <br /> to also ask if they have any other input. She would like to address the FMLA and sick <br /> and vacation accruals. <br /> 13 <br />
