HALL COUNTY WEED CONTROL <br /> ROBERT SCHULTZ - SUPERINTENDENT <br /> 2807 W 2ND ST GRAND ISLAND, NE 68803 <br /> PHONE: 385-5097 FAX: 385-5121 <br /> roberts@hallcountyne.gov <br /> May 2, 2022 <br /> The Hall County Weed Board met on May 2, 2022 at 3:00 pm for the monthly meeting. <br /> Members present were Francis Hannon, Neal Sidders, Gary Jacobson, Kelly Markham, <br /> Wayne Foster and Rob Schultz. <br /> The meeting was opened at 3:00 PM. Minutes were read by Gary and approved with a <br /> motion by Neal. Kelly seconded. Motion passed. <br /> Claims for April were read and approved with a motion by Neal and seconded by Kelly. <br /> Motion carried. April expenses to date are: $7,267.25 and income was $7,738.50. <br /> Public Participation: Rob presented Kelly with a 15 year Award Certificate and cooler. <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Discussed Platte River Resilience Fund. They are still looking for a fund raising <br /> person. <br /> • LB 805 and LB805A were passed and signed by the Governor. This is for <br /> Invasive Species Control on Nebraska Rivers and streams. Will be getting an <br /> increase from $1 million to $2.7 million annually for the next 2 years. Grant <br /> applications will be coming out soon. <br /> • Rob sent letters and agreements to landowners in the south channel of the Platte <br /> River with information on Phragmites and spraying. There are grant funds <br /> available to get the spraying done. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Rob received his scores from the Nebraska of Agriculture stating that the Hall <br /> County Weed Control office received a score of 3349 points out of a possible <br /> 3400 from the Department of Agriculture. Francis signed the form stating that we <br /> discussed the score at a regular board meeting. Rob will send it back in to Paul. <br /> • Rob stated that the chemical line item in his budget has only $150 left to spend. <br /> 81%has been spent in the total budget. There are still 2 months left in the fiscal <br /> year. There is still more chemical to buy before the end of the budget year. With <br /> the wind and rain and the delay in spraying this year, the budget should be alright <br /> for this year. <br /> • The NAISMA Conference is November 7-10 in Ft. Meyers. The Weed <br /> Association will pay for about 80% of Rob's cost's to attend. Howard County <br /> will be paying for half of the registration cost. <br /> • PVWMA meeting is Thursday May 5th in Kearney. They will discuss the grant <br /> proposal of$2.7 million. <br /> A motion to adjourn was made by Francis and seconded by Kelly. Motion carried. <br /> The next meeting will be held Monday, June 6, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. <br /> Gary Jacobson, Secretary <br />
