Bredthauer noted there was some concern when Scott ordered the culverts but they
have them now and just like the fuel they are trying to be proactive.
PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE — Mr. Robb has been doing some bridge inspections for the
annual bridge inspections and also looked at other bridges. They are working on the 1
& 6 Road Program. There are 10 miles of asphalt that needs done but may not get it
done it will depend on the funding. They're looking at trying to get at least 1 mile of
grading on each grader route. There are 6 bridge on the one year but that also
depends on the funding and there are another 9 bridges on the 2 year plan.
Don said he and Steve discussed the Highway 2 and 70th bridge project and Steve is
ready to send it in to the state. This is a project that needs to get done. They are
proposing to remove the old bridge and do the dirt work so a contractor can come in
and lay the base and pour the box. Then the county will finish the dirt work. It is hard
to get contractors and they hope if they get it to a point a contractor can come in and
pour the box sometimes they can work it in.
Lancaster ask if this was fiscal year and Don said this is calendar year. This is the
bridge match dollars that needs to be completed. Karen noted this is the project that
they have the extension on and has to be used by the end of November.
Don said they're putting up the engine break signs they are just changing out the signs
and one will be moved about 400 feet for better visibility;
Quandt talked to city regarding the veteran's club park there is concern and the city may
be enforcing them. Sherriff Conrad said they have no problem if there ae signs up then
they can enforce but you have to see the truck.
Sorensen enforcement is very difficult they tried to do this in Cairo. The sheriff cannot
patrol every intersection and appreciate the public's understanding.
Gary ask about the tire cleanup Karen said the county did not receive the grant they will
apply again
Karen said they did have safety meeting on Wednesday Southern Power showed them
how to use the bucket truck the State Patrol was there and there was training on chain
saw use.
Karen said that Dave on Platte River Drive called this morning and wanted to thank
Mark and his crew for the work removing the trees on Platte River Road. He gave Mark
and his crew a compliment.
Ron forwarded a copy of an E mail regarding flooding from construction on Indaingrass
Road there hasn't been any rain so it could be dewatering. Ron noted that the ditches
on Stuhr Road have water. Discussion was held and it may be city.
9
