They will meet again with <br /> more information and additional discussion. <br /> Alaina said she will move the funds from Wells Fargo to Five Points Bank because she will earn <br /> some interest from Five Points. <br /> 11a DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ACCEPTING BID FOR SPRING ASPHALT <br /> RESURFACING — Mr. Riehle reviewed the bids documents and they are all accurate and he is <br /> recommending to award the bid to Gary Smith Construction for $700,678.10. He also noted that <br /> Merrick County has $150,000.00 for a joint project. <br /> Bredthauer questioned if there is enough eft in the budget to cover the costs. They <br /> budgeted $480,515.00 for resurfacing for asphalt and have used $218,000.00 and there <br /> was another claim for $26,000.00. Steve stated that there is another line item for the <br /> highway by back dollars they will use and also this is a joint project with Merrick County. <br /> Sorensen made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to accept the bid and award it to <br /> Gary Smith Construction asper the recommendation from County Engineer Steve <br /> Riehle. Bredthauer, Hurt, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson Richardson and Sorensen all <br /> voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Riehle stated he get the contracts process for the board chair to sign. <br /> 17a PUBLIC WORKS —A) SORENSEN & BREDTHAUER UPDATE - Sorensen <br /> reported that they are working on the regularly scheduled maintenance picking up trash, <br /> pulling back berms, working on gravel. They hope to get a regular schedule for <br /> maintenance. They are also discussing future projects and noted that there is stretch of <br /> road the county line that did not get clay capped and are working on 70th road and 13th <br /> and Airport Road they're also cleaning out culverts and working on the berm on Airport <br /> Road. They did 26 miles of crack sealing. The office staff is getting things updated. He <br /> also noted that the Administrative Assistants last day will be Friday. <br /> Bredthauer reported that the administrative assistant submitted her resignation effective <br /> Friday. She received an offer that she could not refuse. The county cannot even <br /> counter offer. She also reported that Steve Riehle has passed his bridge inspection and <br /> will receive his license so he will be able to do the inspections there may be some <br /> changes on the Platte River Industrial Park and the county may have to purchase some <br /> right-of-way. She also noted they are going out for the bids on the culverts. They have <br /> been packing some dirt around some of the culverts to prevent damage. She stated <br /> that Janet and Kelly are doing a good job getting the office in shape. <br /> She stated that the department has ask for a transfer pole and power at the Alda pit. <br /> The county has owned this for years and they will see if there are funs to do this. <br /> The gravel has been testing well and it has all been coming in at the standards that <br /> were set. <br /> They're also looking at upgrading the windows at the highway department. The <br /> compressor also has some rust and may go out. The back flow that is required by the <br /> City has been leaking and it will need to be replaced. They are working on the stump <br /> grinding and that is going well. They are also working on replacing signs where needed. <br /> 8 <br />
