13. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING UNION <br /> REPRESENTATION. Peterson stated that the 2022 classifications committee for <br /> union negotiations will include Peterson, Hurst and Richardson. Peterson <br /> suggested that the board approve Sarah Carstensen to work with Jerry Pigsley <br /> (Woods and Aitken) to represent Hall County for union representation. <br /> Motion by Quandt, second by Richardson. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, <br /> Richardson, Quandt and Sorensen all voted yes. No one voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 14. UPDATE FROM CLERK'S OFFICE REGARDING CLOSING ADP ACCOUNT <br /> WITH WELLS FARGO BANK. County Clerk, Maria Conley was not present. <br /> Peterson and Lancaster both stated they had spoken to Maria about the timeline. <br /> The biggest concern is related to unclaimed property that has a 5 year deadline and <br /> there could be outstanding checks that may try to clear if the account is closed. <br /> Other discussion related the current fees Wells Fargo is charging are too high. <br /> Another option is to close the account and handle outstanding check issues as they <br /> are presented in which a new check could be issued. Lancaster stated that Marla <br /> would look into the unclaimed property closer and report back to the board with <br /> options at the next board meeting February 1, 2022. <br /> 15. DISCUSS AND APPROVE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE DECISION <br /> REGARDING OPERATIONS OF THE ROAD DEPARTMENT UNTIL RATIFIED AT <br /> THE FOLLOWING BOARD MEETING. Lancaster discussed authorizing the <br /> committee to make decisions and then ratify those decisions at the following board <br /> meeting. This is the same process that the board takes with Covid issues currently. <br /> This process creates a paper trail for public record and keeps the board fully <br /> informed. Motion by Lancaster, second by Quandt. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, <br /> Peterson, Richardson, Quandt and Sorensen all voted yes. No one voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 16. DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON DISCONTINUING HALL COUNTY'S <br /> DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN WITH BOTH NATIONWIDE AND <br /> SILVERLEAF. Lancaster stated that Hall County employees would benefit greatly <br /> by becoming part of the State Compensation Plan. Currently this would affect 8 <br /> employees. Lancaster asked the board to approve and allow chair to sign letter <br /> followed up by a resolution that would end the current plans and add the State plan <br /> by April 2022. Motion by Lancaster, second by Sorensen. Bredthauer, Hurst, <br /> Lancaster, Peterson, Richardson, Quandt and Sorensen all voted yes. <br /> No one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 3 <br />
