Scott Sorensen thanked him for being here and stated he has heard concerns from
landowners regarding the surveys and the proposed easements. He ask if it is a 4 inch
pipe why did they need a 50 foot easement. People are concerned that they may come
back and put in larger pipes.
Chris stated that a larger pipe could be needed if they were to have more companies
join. The easements would be about 100 feet wide for the construction and then the 50
foot easements.
Lancaster ask what the advantage would be and Chris stated this allows the ethanol to
be a more competitive product. He noted that some of the fuel is sold in California and
they will pay a premium to the ethanol plants. The federal government offers incentives
and tax credits for these projects
Quandt questioned if the project could be like the Keystone project it was closed
because they could not get the permits.
Mr. Peterson said this is for CO2 capture ad they do not plan to run any other pipes.
Bredthauer expressed concern that the 50 foot easement is a lot of wasted land for a 4
inch pipe and she ask if that is necessary.
Chris said this is a perpetual easement for the land and they may need access later for
repairs.
Sorensen noted that there could be 15 to 20 county roads that they may have to bore
under and also all of the other trenching. Mr. Peterson said they would make sure once
the pipe is in the land will be back the way it was.
Peterson ask if the product is liquid or gas and how it is moved. Chris stated it is
compressed gas not a liquid state and it is moved by pressure. The storage space is to
last 20 to 25 years. The board thanked him for the information.
5. 9:30 A.M.
