SUMMIT CARBON SOLUTIONS CO2 PIPELINE PROJECT CHRIS
PETERSON — Chris Peterson with Summit Carbon Solution from Ames Iowa was
present to give a brief overview of the proposed Co2 carbon pipeline. The company
was formed in 2020 and secured funds for the largest carbon capture project funded by
Summit Ag Group. It will include the states of Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, South
Dakota and Minnesota. The pipeline will capture the Co2 and move it through the
pipeline to an underground storage facility in North Dakota. The main purpose of this
project is to allow ethanol plants to produce sustainable fuel for companies that are
looking for low-carbon fuel.
The pipeline will run through Hall, Hamilton Merrick and York Counties. It will create
temporary construction jobs and 60 to 90 permanent jobs. The 4 inch carbon steel
pipes will be buried 4 feet deep. They will be working with landowners to secure the
necessary easement for the pipelines. He provided the board with information on the
project. Mr. Peterson called for question from the board.
3
