Quandt stated the main reason is to save the taxpayer dollars and said they should still purchase the motor grader but by using inheritance funds they could save $30,000.00 Quandt made a motion and Sorensen seconded to finance the motor graders out of the inheritance fund. Sorensen noted there would be no interest. Peterson stated he would not support this if the county was receiving some return on the inheritance dollars but there is no income now. There is a limited amount of inheritance tax dollars but he is OK with this issue. Richardson stated she agrees with Ron and she would approve. Lancaster ask Sarah to come back with a resolution regarding this. The county could draw up a contract with the merchant but it is the best interest for the county to finance it ourselves. The vote on the motion was taken Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. There is a copy of the contract in the packet. 22. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE LETTER OF SUPPORT TO THE NE CENTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY FOR CRISI GRANT APPLICATION- Quandt stated that there was a copy of the letter regarding the problems with intersections being block and they are asking for help for these railroad crossings that need to be upgraded. They are asking for letters of support for the efforts. This would be $10,708,444.09 for the proposed funding. Quandt made a motion and Peterson seconded to send a letter of support the letter that they sent is a draft and the board could just add the necessary county information. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. 6 C.)PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE SORENSEN & BREDTHAUER - Bredthauer reported that the snow fence is up and they may need to use more salt on the heavy traffic roads like Gunbarrel. With the recent wind storm they were busy removing trees on the road and have signs that blew down and they are replacing them. There was culvert on Airport Road that was compromised and they had to wait for the shipment of culverts. They need to go out for bids to have them on hand. She reported that the bridge work is moving forward and the mowing tractors are now in the sheds. They are continuing to work on the crack sealing they are getting things done and making progress. She also noted that Steve Riehle is on medical leave so they are short employees. 8
