There are 29 <br /> employees, different personalities and moving forward they need to be on the same <br /> page and work for a common goal. There may have to be hard decisions and be able <br /> to make those calls when necessary. You need to see both sides of the story and the <br /> board will support him. They need to work things out... <br /> Bredthauer with his background he would have a good idea on the structure of the <br /> department. In the last few years they tried to restructure the department and that has <br /> not worked and they hope someone can address this. They have the County Handbook <br /> and the union agreement to follow they need to follow the rules and be a leader. They <br /> have address the safety issues and equipment there needs to be a good working <br /> environment and a safe place to work. <br /> Peterson noted the new structure is not working and it is not the best functioning <br /> department there are delays getting the work done and that needs addressed to make <br /> sure it gets done. <br /> Hurst stated that there are some concerns on how the roads and the grading and <br /> suggested there could be a lead motor grader operator to work with the people to make <br /> sure it is done correctly. <br /> Quandt stted we need strong leadership and have not had it they hope with the right <br /> leadership it will get better <br /> Gregory ask about the position this could be the highway superintendent and the <br /> director. <br /> Lancaster said they are working on the legislation to change the population if this is not <br /> changed the elected surveyor would be the highway superintendent. Hall County has <br /> an engineer they need to hire a highway superintendent to direct him to do the projects <br /> that need to be done. The superintendent would be in charge of the day to day <br /> management of the department. The County surveyor has no interest in the <br /> department. <br /> Lancaster stated our GIS Department is different it is busy. Hall County is caught in the <br /> middle of the small counties and the large counties. <br /> Mr. Schmidt lives in Hasting but would be able to report to work in 30 minutes. <br /> 12 <br />
