Motion carried. <br /> 13B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING NIRMA SAFETY ROUTE <br /> LETTER - Bredthauer made a motion and Peterson seconded to have Sarah <br /> Carstensen work with Steve Riehle to respond to the NIRMA letter regarding the safety <br /> of the roads and allow the Board Chair to sign. . Returned to session to hold the interviews <br /> Returned to session at 2:00 p.m. <br /> HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT <br /> Gregory Schmidt lives in Hastings <br /> • He has a copy of the job description and has read it <br /> • He has worked for highway department for 20 years worked on bridges roads <br /> and has his license to do the bridge inspections he has helped in the office, <br /> worked on the 1 & 6 Road Program, FEMA reporting and various plans and has <br /> done a lot of county work He has his Class B license <br /> • Why did he apply for this job he has worked his way up and wants to move up <br /> the ladder <br /> • He is a good candidate he is hardworking applies himself and wants to do every <br /> job well he makes sure that jobs are done correctly and always works hard <br /> • Conflict he said it can be good or bad you have to treat people with respect not <br /> go overboard and see their point of view. <br /> • He can multitask there are always different things going on there may be bridge <br /> inspections that need done road projects going on and you have to address them <br /> the same time - <br /> • Trade licenses they are listed on his application <br /> • Background check there would not be any issues <br /> • If selected when could he start he would like to give 2 weeks' notice <br /> • Management style he does not dictate he would expect them to address the work <br /> and know what they need to do he would make sue people know what he <br /> expects <br /> • Strengths he may be a little impatient but would want to get the jobs done he is <br /> intelligent and hard working <br /> • His weakness would be that he is impatient want wants to get things done quickly <br /> some are not as quick but he does not yell helps them to get motivated <br /> 11 - <br />
