Loren stated last week he attended a workshop and Jon Cannon discussed the ARPA <br /> funds. They discussed county facilities and the need for more space for social <br /> distancing for court rooms or board rooms because of COVID. Those expenses are <br /> justifiable. The ARPA guidelines noted there has to be a narrative for projects and also <br /> a narrative for the premium pay and why they ae to receive it and an explanation why <br /> their duties qualify for COVID. <br /> 10:30 a.m. Held a Board of Corrections meeting <br /> 10:55 a.m. Adjourned the Board o Corrections meeting <br /> Held a 5 minute break. <br /> 11:00 A.M. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING GRAND THEATER <br /> RENOVATIONS — Gary said Craig Hand and other members were present regarding <br /> the renovation for the Grand theater. Craig noted that COVID was difficult and they are <br /> struggling. This is a good project and they want to help support the other businesses <br /> that are down there. He also noted that the valuation of the downtown business went <br /> up <br /> Gary said the Grand Theater is important to downtown and to Hall County and he would <br /> like to use Keno fund. This would be for community betterment. <br /> Craig said they were within one week of starting the renovations when COVID hit and <br /> they were closed, no shipments no workers so it was put on hold. He noted some of the <br /> following renovations they're looking at. <br /> • new seats at $162,466 they have these funds <br /> • new lighting $10,000 <br /> • new technical equipment $16,504.00 <br /> • <br /> Mr. Hand stated that they do a lot for the community they have helped the historical <br /> society with historic markers and donate free ticket for various projects. They try to <br /> keep their rates low. He mentioned a recent comic night that they held. People come <br /> to the Grand and vest the local restaurants down town. <br /> Quandt stated that we have just finished up the budget and the Grand Theater is <br /> important to the community. He stated that the keno fund are for community betterment <br /> and would like to support them at $410,000.00. The county receives additional keno <br /> dollars monthly. Kim sated that the fund for this year have already been allotted she <br /> would have to check to see if there are additional dollars <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to move forward and look at the <br /> feasibility to support the Grand Theater up to $10,000.00. Discussion was held and <br /> they need to also check on the CVB funds this may be another good avenue. They may <br /> not be able to cover all of the funds but there may be some help.
