14.B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON NEW PARK PICKUP TRUCK (14
weeks out on state bid) — Mr. Humphrey said that they have looked at an extended cab
4 wheel drive standard Ford pickup. He said they run around $30,000. They have
looked at the surplus pickups and they may be a few years older but you do not know
what you are getting. They may address this after the first of the year
Peteson ask what it is used for and Loren said it is used at the park the current vehicle
is a 2000 with 110,000 miles. Discussion was held and this has been budgeted for.
Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the purchase of a pickup
off of the state bid. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Sorensen all
voted yes and no one voted no. Richardson was absent.
14. C) DISCUSSION ON TIME LINE FOR FEDERAL BUILDING PROJECT - Loren ask
if the board wants to look at a time line for the Federal building. Lancaster said she
talked to Loren and the Judges are pushing to work on this. There is concern spending
the ARPA funds on this and they need more information on the infrastructure bill.
Loren said with the Federal Building projects there has to be an architect. It has to be
approved by the National Parks Department then it goes to the State Historical Society
for approval. It could take 3 to 4 weeks for the architect, 5 to 6 months for that time line
and then 6 to 7 months before they could receive or approve a bid. Right now materials
are and high and shipping is tough everything takes longer.
Peterson said they need to talk to the Judges regarding the timing and their needs we
need input from them they need more information.
Lancaster said they need to talk to the judges and then move forward.
D) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON STORAGE BUILDING — Loren stated that
they had to move some items back to the old health department building. They did
budget dollars for a new building and he ask if the board wants to move forward with
this or take the asbestos out of the health department building. They did patch the roof
and it will make good dry storage.
Quandt stated right now contractors are so far behind and cannot get materials. Cost
have gone up and it is not good time to look a new building you would pay double.
They need to wait until next spring.
Bredthauer ask about the asbestos and the area they used is not viable.
FACILITIES UPDATE — Loren said they have finished the Courthouse project. The
suppression system is finished and it has b\passed the testing. They did have to
replace some molding in a court room but Nebraska Fire Sprinkler is paying for that.
9
