11. A) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH <br /> ALAN PICKREL - Quandt made a motion and Sorensen seconded to approve the <br /> employment agreement with Alan Pickrel. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, <br /> Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 11 b) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING BUILDING DEPARTMENT <br /> SECRETARY'S SALARY - Hurst questioned if it was still necessary for the secretary to <br /> do the additional duties. Sarah will work with Dense to establish a time line for this to <br /> take place and where the salary should be placed. Denise would be in a better position <br /> to do this. There no action today. <br /> 12. PUBLIC WORKS- A) DISCUSSION & CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL TO FILL <br /> THE VACANT PUBLIC WORKS EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT POSITION — Steve Riehle <br /> was present and is requesting to fill the vacant position of the executive assistant <br /> position at the Road Department. Discussion was held on the job description and the <br /> requirement that that position be a certified county highway superintendent this could be <br /> taken off. That position takes experience and it is really not necessary. <br /> Peterson questioned if the level a pay might be different? <br /> Bredthauer stated she though when the foreman received an increase in salaries there <br /> was a salary change for that positon also. Steve stated that he did not make a salary <br /> change and they may need to look at the classification of this job description. The prior <br /> employee had 36 years of experience and they need to start at the bottom of the range <br /> and work up. <br /> A classification committee needs to be scheduled if there re change to the job <br /> description. Steve stated he does have a temporary person that is working 30 hours a <br /> week. <br /> B) PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE - Steve stated that the sewer repair at the Wood River <br /> Shed has been completed and it is operational. <br /> They have been trimming trees on Schultz road and cleaning out a lot of material. <br /> Steve stated that Mr. Zlomke had requested that a berm was raised and Steve stated <br /> he will look at the elevation and look at the design and talk to Mr. Zlomke <br /> Steve stated he has contacted the Sheriff and the City of Grand Island regarding the <br /> trash blowing out of vehicles on Husker Highway he has been getting calls also. <br /> Wood River Road J.I.L. bought a polisher trying to get a smoother surface but there are <br /> still 328 bumps so it is still rough. Steve stated that to move forward they would need to <br /> use a pilograph and there is a company out of Hastings that does have a machine. <br /> They need to run this to make sure to find the real numbers. <br /> 9 <br />
