Quandt expressed concern that the county is trying to fix their mess. Steve stated that <br /> the Nebraska Department of Roads policy that if it is rough the contractor has to pay <br /> and under the contract we should not be stuck with the cost. Steve stated that there will <br /> be deductions on the problems. They paid for the material and now some of the asphalt <br /> has been ground off. <br /> Bredthauer questioned if the county paid for the pilograph test on 1 R Road and they <br /> may be able to deduct that cost. Discussion was held on the depth of the overlay and it <br /> was 2 1/2 inches and some of that was completely ground off. It still has not been fixed, <br /> Steve reported that the gravel is going good and have about 2 more weeks of work. <br /> They hope that the asphalt plants will be opening up so they can start the patching. <br /> The culverts are to be delivered next week so they replace them and they want it to be <br /> dry. He stated that there is increased traffic on Airport Road and Highway 2. <br /> They had a demonstration on a John Deere motor grader Komatsu and also on a <br /> grade-all they are looking at the difference in the machines. <br /> Steve said the motor for the shop doors was on a dock in Florida so as soon as the <br /> motor comes they will schedule to finish the work. One door is up. <br /> Sorensen stated there was discussion regarding waiving the bid on the Wood River <br /> shed sewer project and 2 days after the project was bid they received another bid and <br /> that was 3 to 4 weeks after they ask for the bid. But the county saved $4,000.00 by <br /> using the bid they received <br /> Steve stated there were some issue on water that was supposed to pipped into Silver <br /> Creek and Rob Serr is working with the Department of Roads to address this issue. <br /> They are asking for a discharge point. <br /> Lancaster there was concern on some computer monitors for the Road Department <br /> there were 3 employees that wanted 2 monitors. Steve said he would pay for them but <br /> he was working with Doug and he was able to find some monitors. <br /> 13 FACILITIES —A) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON COURTHOUSE <br /> EGRESS PROJECT — Loren stated he received some information regarding the change <br /> order and it will be discussed later. There is a special meeting today at 2:00 p.m. today. <br /> B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON STORAGE BUILDING — Loren stated they <br /> are looking at 50' x 80' storage building on the vacant lots. There is never enough <br /> storage. There would not be any suppression system and he ask if the board wanted it <br /> insulated or no insulation. He has a generic estimate of about $100,000 to $150,000. <br /> There would need to be some site work. He would like to get this started and <br /> suggested they may be able to use some of the recovery dollars. <br /> 10 <br />
