9 B) DISCUSSION & CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT WITH CITY OF GRAND ISLAND FOR ASPHALT RESURFACING ON
BISMARK ROAD WEST OF SHADY BEND ROAD AND CHIP SEAL ON THE
COUNTY'S PORTION OF WILDWOOD DRIVE EAST OF US HWY 34/281
Steve Riehle stated that this is an interlocal agreement with the City of Grand Island to
resurface Bismark Road between Stuhr Road and Shady Bend Road and to chip seal
Wildwood Road between US Highway 281 and Locust Street. The county does not
have the budget to do this so he is proposing that the City take the lead on this project.
He explained that the chip seal on the asphalt roads and keeps the water out. He
stated it makes sense for the county to consider doing this along with the city. The city
could take the lead and the county would pay the city for the County's share of the
project costs. He stated that the gravel bids came I high but there are funds in the
asphalt resurfacing to cover this. The budged dollars would be tight in those line items.
Lancaster questioned if the budget or the line item would be tight and Steve stated only
the line item. Steve stated just that line item.
He is requesting a motion to approve the interlocal agreement with the City this is the
same interlocal as in the past. These agreements have worked out well.
Sorensen made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the interlocal agreement
with the City of Grand Island for the asphalt resurfacing. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster,
Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and none voted no. Motion
carried.
Quandt asked if Steve had talked to J.I.L. they need to set a date on this. Steve stated
he did this morning they need to make a good effort on this.
Scot stated that he also talked to Tom and Jerry with J.I.L. and they seem to be
dragging their feet they said they are waiting for warmer weather. They said they did
buy a grinding machine it is in their court now and we need some action by May 1St
Richardson noted this is a good time to get it done.
10:30 .M. Held a Board of Corrections meeting
10:46 a.m. Recessed the Board of Corrections meeting and returned to the regular
meeting.
Todd sated that he talked to Brandon and they reviewed the bid and it looked OK and
the amount of the bid is also fine. This is a specialized area and we are lucky to have
someone I this area that can do this work.
Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to accept the bid from CEI for
$14,888.00. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and
Sorensen all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
7
