In Douglas County the probation office oversees <br /> this and they provide a coordinator she noted that if you can reduce the detention <br /> budget then it is a wash. You can also use juvenile community based aid dollars. <br /> Judge Corey, the County Attorney, Public Defender and other attorneys have agreed <br /> they are on board with the assessment. <br /> Lancaster noted that she and Gary were here when they started the juvenile diversion <br /> program this give youth a second chance vs detention. <br /> Ms. Lueders stated they provide the highest level of support they meet with a <br /> coordinator and have a seat at the table. There are some issues that can't be solved at <br /> the local level and may need to be addressed at a state wide level. <br /> Sarah Carstensen stated she has talked to Marty and they support the concept it is a <br /> great opportunity to help the kids and save money. They have a great relationship with <br /> juvenile resources and this offers a good opportunity to have a third party review what <br /> we have. The truancy program was a pilot program here in Hall County and it has been <br /> replicated across the state. It is good to have the outside review. <br /> Sorensen made a motion and Richardson seconded to move forward with the JDAI <br /> assessment process. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Peteson, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> The board thanked them for coming and for the information. <br /> 9:40 a.m. held a board of Equalization meeting. <br /> 9:50 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular <br /> meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chair Lancaster called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 5 UPDATE ROADS SAFETY COMMITTEE UPDATE FOR NIRMA SAFETY - <br /> Bredthauer stated that the NIRMA Safety Manual needs to be reviewed and adopted. It <br /> is important that the county is in compliance and everyone follows safe working <br /> practices. She suggested having the committee come in and explain what they have <br /> done. <br /> 4 <br />
