Richardson stated she contacted the ICC and it is an open book test. They were trying
to broaden the field for the applicants so they made the changes. She questioned how
long Alan wants to stay.
Lancaster noted spring will pick up and though he would be willing to stay they need to
ask Alan. She noted that there are some big projects in the spring and he wanted to
have someone on board to work on them.
Hurst stated they need to have the electrical certification if they have that then they can
take the tests. They do have some applicants and they need to work with them.
Peterson ask if they wanted to change the start date. He noted the changes that were
made to the job description. They need to make it clear.
Quandt ask if they have the electrical and they are hired what would happen if they
cannot get the other requirements.
Quandt stated that he does not want to train the new person. Discussion was held and
the ICC is an open book test and should not be that difficult to obtain. They were
concerned they did not get applications and that could be because of the salary. The
salary was left as negotiable.
Richardson noted the suggestion from Gary that the pay may need to be higher. She
stated they do have one applicant that meets all of the qualifications.
Peterson stated there is a cost to taking the ICC test. Discussion was held when they
are interviewed, they could take the test and pass it to get the job.
Lancaster questioned if they talked to the village mayors would they be will to pay more
if they had to increase the salary.
Quandt suggested if they meet the qualifications make the job contingent on getting the
ICC certification and hold it open for 30 days.
Peterson stated the current job description was unclear regarding the ICC certification
discussion was held regarding the 30 days.
Sarah stated they could be on probation until the requirements are completed. She
suggested that they would have 30 days of the job offer to complete the ICC
certification.
Richardson stated it is no uncommon to make stipulations.
Quandt stated we can't afford to train someone if they do not get the certification then
they would have to start over. They need to have the qualifications.
6
