Bredthauer questioned if Hall County's older machines would be able to keep up with the work, <br /> or would the county have to look at renting equipment to do the job. <br /> Richardson stated anytime you can get four different entities working together it is a win win. <br /> She stated our share of the pot is less than the others. <br /> Dave Taylor with the Economic Development stated that this drainage is very much needed for <br /> our future development. He stated this project will help to make more land available to sell. He <br /> stated there is a grant that Hall County became eligible for it is a Federal Grant from the <br /> Economic Development Association. Mr. Taylor stated that the Ponca Tribe Chief applied thru <br /> FEMA to be declared a disaster area, and that is what happened up in North East Nebraska. <br /> The Ponca tribe applied and received federal disaster. Hall County must have some Ponca <br /> Tribe members living here, so now we become a distribution area for the Ponca tribe so the <br /> grants have been looked at. <br /> Richardson made a motion and Peterson seconded to approve the agreement for drainage <br /> improvements in the vicinity of the Platte Valley Industrial Park. <br /> Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes, none voted no. <br /> Motion carried <br /> 25 DISCUSSION & ACTION TO APPROVE WEED BOARD VACANCY POSITION —Lancaster <br /> stated she was pleased with the turnout and interest in this position. <br /> Mr. Brock McDonald was not present <br /> Mr. Wayne Foster-stated he was born in Cherry County, his dad farmed and ranched he learned <br /> good work ethics. He joined the Airforce. He moved to Grand Island and worked at the <br /> Ordinance Plant. He has 3 sons. He stated he felt he has time to do the job and it would be <br /> interesting. <br /> Mr. Wayne Thiesenvitz stated he lives in Western Hall County and has farmed for 30 years and <br /> raises hogs and cattle. He went to work for CPI and was a crop sprayer for 14 years. He just <br /> needed something to occupy some time and thought this would be interesting. <br /> The vote was taken 4 votes for Mr. Wayne Foster 2 votes for Mr. Thiesenvitz. Mr. Wayne Foster <br /> was selected. <br /> 15 DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION APPROVING NEXT STEPS FOR THE POSITION OF <br /> HALL COUNTY BUILDING INSPECTOR-Peterson stated he talked to Sarah about this and <br /> they do not need an executive session. He wants to discuss the process and the terms of the <br /> applications. He ask if Alan Pickrel could give some insight to the job requirement and <br /> necessary qualifications. <br /> Carstensen stated the job qualifications included some certifications, and there is concern that <br /> they are not receiving applications that contain all of the criteria that is in the job description. <br /> She wanted to discuss the specific requirements and if they are necessary or can they be <br /> modified. There just needs to be a better understanding about what we need for the position. <br /> She questioned the ICC certification. <br /> Alan Pickrel stated the ICC was created as a nationwide code. ICC is a recognized testing <br /> program to see that you have the knowledge and the ability to run a project. ICC is a <br /> 6 <br />
