Mr. Pickrel <br /> stated there are some big projects going up in Grand Island and Doniphan and Wood River <br /> someone coming into this position would need some knowledge of building. Contractors expect <br /> to work with someone with some knowledge of construction. <br /> Lancaster asked him to explain the electrical and plumbing certificates that are required. <br /> Alan Pickrel stated for the electrical you have to be registered with the State of Nebraska and <br /> that you have to be have journeyman qualifications to get a contractor's license. <br /> Carstensen asked Pickrel for his recommendation if it is necessary to stick with those three <br /> qualifications. <br /> Pickrel stated they are going to have to be proficient in the building trade, he stated they will <br /> need the certification to have the credibility to tell the contractors what to do. <br /> Lancaster stated if people are interested in job they can take care of getting the training and <br /> certifications. She stated the electrical will be little more difficult. <br /> Bredthauer stated this is very important job to make sure things get done right, sometimes <br /> trusses are not right size or spaced right. You have to make sure drain lines will flow right and <br /> the slopes right. She believes they need some back ground and knowledge in this. She stated <br /> that it is important to get some in that knows what they are doing or there could be liability and a <br /> mess on our hands. She stated they need to look little further. <br /> Lancaster stated this is important and not something that can just be thrown together. She <br /> stated this will not be a quick or easy process. <br /> Quandt asked Pickrel how much longer he can help out and keep working for them <br /> Lancaster stated maybe looking at an adjustment in the salary range so we can get someone <br /> with the qualifications. <br /> Peterson questioned where they go from here? Do they need to contact the current applicants <br /> let them know they don't meet the criteria or do they need to broaden the search to more <br /> national levels, and is the salary negotiable. <br /> Lancaster said to look into cost of advertising on some of the larger sites. <br /> 18 RECEIVE LETTER FROM PUBLIC DEFENDER GERARD PICCOLO REGARDING HIRING <br /> ATTORNEY FOR OFFICE OF JUVENILE DEFENSE-Carstensen stated the letter was received. <br /> 26 DISCUSS &TAKE ACTION TO ALLOW THE CHAIRMAN TO MAKE DECISIONS <br /> BETWEEN COUNTY BOARD MEETINGS REGARDING COVID-19 ISSUES-Lancaster stated <br /> she works with Ron Peterson and Sheriff and Sarah if things need to be decided in between <br /> meetings. Just need this if it is needed. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to allow the Board Chair to make decisions <br /> regarding Covid-19 between meetings. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and <br /> Richardson all voted yes, none voted no. Motion Carried <br /> 7 <br />
