Richardson made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the interlocal agreement with the <br /> City of Grand Island. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and <br /> Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> F) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING 10 HOUR DAYS FOR HIGHWAY <br /> DEPARTMENT— Steve stated that they did a modified 10 hour day last year. There are other <br /> counties that do the 4 10 hour days. Last year there was someone in the office to answer the <br /> phones on Fridays they will now have the calls forwarded. He is recommendation starting April 1 <br /> to October for the four 10 hour days and on Arbor Day and July 4th they will work eight hours. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the 10 hour days from April 1St to <br /> October 30th and the 8 hours on the holidays. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, <br /> Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Hartman stated he does not agree with the 10 hour days but will go along with it to keep the <br /> peace. <br /> Hurst ask if they could flip Monday through Thursday. Steve stated that would be confusing but <br /> forwarding the phones will help. <br /> PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE - Mr. Riehle provided the board with information regarding another <br /> auction company. The county has used Wieck's or Big Iron for surplus property auctions in the <br /> past. <br /> Steve stated that he talked to Myers Heating about the HVAC project and they will hold tight on <br /> the bid. He also stated that they have ordered the culvert pipes for Airport Road. <br /> Double D Plumbing I Wood River contacted him that they are selling their property if the county <br /> might be interested. He does not have any funds for a purchase of property. They currently <br /> house 3 motor grades in the shed. <br /> Lancaster noted that they have allowed the county to turn the motor graders around on their <br /> property and there is concern what would happen if the property was sold. They may be forced <br /> to look at another property. Steve stated they will survey the land and look at the space if they <br /> looked at the other location they would have to build a new building. This is good discussion <br /> and we do not want to get caught short. We need more information <br /> Hartman ask about the land at the ordinance plant that the county owns if it is sold there is a <br /> process that has to be followed and it takes some time. <br /> Riehle noted that the city is hold a hearing one request for a conditional use permit from Hooker <br /> Brothers on South Locust and there are similar issues on the drainage. He will do some survey <br /> work to make sure it will not affect the neighbors. <br /> Steve reported they are working with Southern Power on the bucket truck and will come back <br /> with more information. <br /> 8 <br />
