Mr.
Frederick prepared the proposed plans for the remodel.
Lancaster noted that Connie Hultine with the Probation Office will have 3 additional
employees and they will be here this month. They will need additional office space and
there has been discussion on the costs and the necessary space that will be needed.
County Attorney Marty Klein expressed concern that he has offices in 3 different
buildings and if Juvenile diversion was moved to the Federal Building that would
eliminate one office space in another building then the Probation Office could move into
the area where Juvenile Diversion is currently located but the space would have to be
remodeled in the Federal Building for Juvenile Diversion. The board hired Master
Builder's to prepare plans and they included everyone in the discussion. After the first
drawing they met again and Connie Hultine suggested a change. Juvenile Diversion
expressed concern on the first set of plans
Richardson expressed concern that this was a committee of 2 and she thought
everything was to come to the county board but now this just came to Gary and Pam.
Mr. Humphrey stated he is asking for some direction from the Board they have to have
an architect for the Federal Building and the plans have to be sent to the National Park
Service and then to the State Historical Preservation Society and they would have to
amend the plan for the use of the Federal Building. They have estimates of$70.00 to
$85.00 a square foot up to $135.00 a square foot depending on the size. They feel the
larger plan fits better. The smaller plan is 1,472 square feet there would still be a
conference room and a smaller storage area.
5
