rapid pace and Alan said you have to have someone who knows the codes and keep
them uniform.
Greg also noted that there are new regulation on the flood plain. Bredthauer noted now
there are basements that comply with the flood plain regulations.
Hartman questioned if the weed superintendent could do the building inspections.
Lancaster noted that it is by state statute that we have to have a weed superintendent
but there could be additional duties. She suggested to allow the part-time until the
position is filled.
Peterson sated he would like to her from Alan to see if that would work. Discussion was
held on setting up a time line.
Alan stated he is retiring September 8, 2020 and he is willing to go part-time.
The vote on the motion to retain the building inspector a full time position was held.
Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes
and none voted no. Motion carried.
Lancaster stated that they need to address the assistant they looked at a similar
positions and it would be similar to the passport office. The annual salary for that
position is $42,850 and the secretary at building inspector is at $35,654. It would be on
range 5 and step five. They could take the difference and divide it by 26 for the
compensation for the extra duties.
Peterson ask if was necessary to do this if they were going to hire a full time position.
He also ask what extra duties she would be doing. She would address the zoning and
the setback and advice the public on that she would issue the permit but would not do
any inspections or go to the sites.
Richardson stated that this is a little premature and they do not need to make this
decision today she would like to wait and see how many applications and she is not
comfortable to wait hiring a full time inspector.
Bredthauer noted she would have some more duties until the positon was filled but they
need to consider what that would be if it was increased.
They will come back on August 18th and look at this more and make some decisions.
Richardson noted that it is difficult to find his phone number it needs to be available.
Peterson ask if his salary would be reduced and if there would be health insurance and
it would be lower and no health insurance.
5
