DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING FMLA POLICY — Quandt stated there <br /> are some questions on FMLA and the handbook leave policies. He would like to refer this to the <br /> insurance committee for their review to see if there are any changes that need to be made. <br /> Lancaster stated this is a good idea to review and address if any updates are needed. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to refer this to the insurance committee. . <br /> Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 11. UPDATE ON RAILROAD ISSUE —There was a conference call with the commission and <br /> the hearing will be held tomorrow. It is up to the commission to call potential witnesses to be <br /> able to understand how the trains have affected Grand Island. They are in charge of asking the <br /> questions. They encourage the community to come forward. Quandt thanked Sarah <br /> Carstensen for the work she has done. Sean has a lot of information and Public works has also <br /> been impacted when they had they were driving large equipment maintain the roads. <br /> Peterson stated the hearing is tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in the County Board room and he <br /> encourage the public to attend. It is very unusual for the commission to come out. Gary initiated <br /> this a month ago and has worked hard to make this happen. <br /> C) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO ALLOW CAIRO RURAL FIRE DEPARTMENT TO <br /> HAVE 10 SURPLUS LOCKERS - Mr. Humphrey stated that there are a number of lockers in <br /> the annex building that were used by the police and the sheriff departments but they have been <br /> declared surplus and Quandt noted that the Cairo Fire Department may be interested in them. <br /> Richardson ask how many there were and Loren stated there are 63 big lockers and 79 smaller <br /> lockers. She stated this is a good idea. <br /> Hartman ask what they would be used for and Loren stated they could be used for storage for <br /> the fire department and if moved they could use the area for storage. Gary stated they were <br /> going to sell them for scrap but he would like to offer them to the fire departments. <br /> Bredthauer made a motion and Quandt seconded to offer all of the rural fire department the <br /> surplus lockers. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 4 <br />
