Steve stated that Wayne Gleason announced his retirement on January 17th and they will be <br /> having a retirement party for hi later. Way has worked for 14 years and is a hard working <br /> employee he knows the county and all of the section corners. <br /> Steve stated that Rich has talked to a contractor about the cracks in the building and how to <br /> repair the blocks. They have been doing the bridge inspections but if a bridge is over 20 feet <br /> long they have to have the bridge certification. He needs to have one more person with the <br /> certification to help with this. He also stated that they have ordered the pipes for the Amick <br /> Acres project and are working on the agreements. <br /> Steve stated he is watching the overtime budget line item. They have kept in touch with FEMA <br /> and are working on category C. They are asking for invoices and information on hours. <br /> January 1st they started sealing cracks on the roads. <br /> Steve stated they have inspected all of the chains and is changing them. There is a training <br /> workshop in Kearney on signs and flooding issues and he will have 2 foemen and the sign tech <br /> and he will attend. <br /> They are still looking for a bucket truck and there is one in Sioux City and now Southern Power <br /> has 2 on Big Iron but they are smaller. He may come back to the board on these but would like <br /> to look at a local unit. <br /> Steve stated that they received the 2020 tire grant and signed the agreement. It is scheduled <br /> for July 25, 2020. <br /> Hartman stated they need to get started on some long range planning on the flooding. Steve <br /> stated they are looking at the pipes and culverts and looking at the gravel and paved roads. The <br /> ground water table is still high. <br /> Quandt ask if the plans for Amick Acres are done. Steve stated he is finalizing the elevations <br /> and the Home Owners Association is working with a land leveler in Hastings. They are address <br /> the county road and will need to address getting the last section of ditch redirected to drain into <br /> the lakes. They want the land leveler to do that projects and they have ordered the culverts and <br /> get them in when they come. <br /> Steve stated they looked at the culvert on Abbott Road and Wayne Gleason had surveyed that <br /> and he talked to Wayne they to determine if it is an elevation problem or a capacity problem. <br /> He will send a letter to the railroad, and look at increasing the capacity of the county pipes. The <br /> railroad took a box culvert and shoved a pipe through it. He can make a suggestion to the <br /> railroad how to fix it. <br /> C) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON OLD HEALTH DEPARTMENT BUILIDNG — Mr. <br /> Humphrey stated that the Fire Marshall informed him that the County has to do something with <br /> the sprinkler system in the annex storage area or move out. They had used the Health <br /> Department building for storage but the asbestos needs to be removed in order to use it. He <br /> has an estimate of about $60,000 to remove the asbestos but the upgrade on the fire <br /> suppression in the annex building would only be $4,000. <br /> 9 <br />
