Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve Resolution 20-020 <br /> Lancaster stated that a bill has been drafted and Dan Quick is asking the legislature to move <br /> forward with LB 911. Senator Quick met with them and there is community support. If <br /> approved there would be funding for the construction and it would meet the requirements of a <br /> National Cemetery. <br /> Hartman questioned if this is going to be a fight or a repeat of the home moving to Kearney. He <br /> agrees to develop it. The city currently has accepted ownership of the land. <br /> Lancaster noted that there are currently a cemeteries in Omaha, Alliance, and Fort McHenry. <br /> The cemeteries cannot be closer than 70 miles from each location. <br /> Quandt noted that this is be a tribute to the veterans. The home had been here for over 100 <br /> years. <br /> The vote on the motion to approve the resolution was taken. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, <br /> Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chair Lancaster called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 11.DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION APPOINTING MIKE SWANSON & BROCK BURNEY <br /> TO THE VISITOR PROMOTION COMMITTEE — Brad Mellema, Executive Director Hall County <br /> Convention Visitors Bureau provided a recommendation to the County Board for the <br /> appointment of Brock Burney and Mike Swanson to the Visitor Promotion Committee. This will <br /> be the second term for each of them. Brad stated that they did not receive any other <br /> applications. The application are on their website. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Peterson seconded to approve the appointment of Mike Swanson <br /> and Brock Burney to the Visitor Promotion Committee. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, <br /> Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 12.DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING 2020 VISITOR IMPROVEMENT GRANT <br /> AWARDS - Mr. Mellema provided copies of the grant information to the board members. There <br /> is a total of$289,853 available for the grants there are 3 multi-year grants that were funded. <br /> GILCA Fonner Park equine storage building $82,000 <br /> GILCA for marketing the livestock facilities $50,000 <br /> AIN Husker Harvest Days $75,000 <br /> Total $207,000 <br /> The subtotal for the annual grants is $81,853.00. The committee recommended the following. <br /> CVB Marketing $20,000 <br /> Pickle ball Courts Pickle ball club of GI $20,000 <br /> Heartland Events Center upgrades $10,000 <br /> Doniphan Trap Club improvements $15,000 <br /> Cane Trust Viewing Blind $ 6,500 <br /> 4 <br />
