They would like to have something in <br /> place this winter and start some of the work. He suggested that there could be an agreement <br /> between the county and the home owners association. <br /> Hartman noted the county could do the work and they could pay the costs and they are also <br /> going to ask the NRD if they could help. Some of the streets are private and some are public <br /> roads. <br /> Bredthauer ask about the ditch work and if they would have to acquire right of way. Steve <br /> stated that the 3 landowners have been part of the meeting and the ditches could be cleaned <br /> out and berms could be added. Greg Rob stated that they could pile the dirt on his land. Steve <br /> stated that there could be some cost for right of way. <br /> Bredthauer ask if the homeowners association would maintain the ditches and Steve stated <br /> there would be an agreement with them to address the issues. <br /> Hartman noted this could be a 3 way deal they're going to approach the NRD for dollars. He <br /> also stated that if the county can give money to Stuhr Museum they need to support this or they <br /> could use keno dollars. The county could use our manpower and equipment we need to do <br /> something. <br /> Lancaster sated that the home owners and the members could be involved. The county needs <br /> more information and they need to keep moving forward and come back to the county board. <br /> Gary Hedman 349 Sunset Drive Amick Acres west was the hardest hit and there was also the <br /> windstorm. He appreciated the time and the help they received. He also noted that the septic <br /> systems and wells were contaminated. They have been working with Steve to find solution. <br /> They appreciated the efforts of Steve and he has a good plan that will work. The ground water <br /> table is high and there hasn't been any irrigation then with the first 5 inches and then 2 day later <br /> another 2 inches of rain they 7 inches of rain is w feet of water. <br /> He noted that some of the homes had 4 1/2 feet of water and some are living in trailers in their <br /> driveways. When they called the insurance companies this was not covered. They need a <br /> comprehensive plan and it is urgent to get this done. The lake level is the same and they need <br /> to move fast before next spring. They are asking for assistance and are going to approach the <br /> NRD for assistance. <br /> Mr. Hedman stated they do not want to live in fear of another flood and they have voted to move <br /> forward with the assessment for the drainage project and put dollars in to get it done. He <br /> thanked the board for the time. <br /> Lancaster noted that the county uses $100,000.00 of the keno dollars for property tax relief. <br /> Sherri O'Callaghan #54 Sonja Drive thanked Mr. Riehle and the county for the help during the <br /> flooding. They had the pumps running 24 hours a day 7 day a week but 80 to 90% of the <br /> homes sustained damage from the flooding and the damage is in the millions. But they are also <br /> concerned about flooding next spring. They want to move forward with this project. <br /> 7 <br />
