Lancaster thanked Mr. Geier for coming. <br /> D) UPDATE ON DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO MITIGATE FUTURE FLOODING IN THE <br /> AIRPORT ROAD & NORTH ROAD AREA— Mr. Riehle stated he has two groups to discuss the <br /> drainage issues. He gave a power point presentation noted the events starting March 14 to the <br /> 17th the May 27th flooding, July 9th, August 7th wind storm and the August 22nd flooding. There <br /> is the issue of high ground water and he noted the rainfall amounts that are 50% over the <br /> normal amounts. He showed slides of the flooding in the areas. <br /> Steve stated that there are 2 pipes under North Road that need to be enlarged and he showed <br /> on the map the need for the 3 drive way culverts. The property owners re responsible for the <br /> drive way culverts. They are looking at fall and winter drainage improvements. He stated that <br /> Patrick Koch is the spokesperson for the neighborhood association. Steve has talked to the <br /> City and to the NRD regarding the flooding issues. <br /> Quandt noted that the city is changing the ditch on Capital and Hwy 281 to makes easier to <br /> mow and questioned if this could affect the drainage. <br /> Peterson ask what the cost is for a driveway culvert. Steve stated that the cost of a fifteen inch <br /> culvert ranges from $300.00 to $500.00. <br /> Patrick Koch 4065 West Airport Road stated he is the spokesman for the neighborhood <br /> association. They appreciate what Steve has done and he ask Steve about the 48 inch culvert <br /> on Airport Road. Steve stated that this would help direct the water to Silver Creek and they <br /> would increase the size of the culvert on North Road. They have to have the water flow <br /> somewhere. <br /> Mr. Koch noted that this is the third time it has happened and it could be from the food diversion <br /> efforts in northwest Grand Island. They need the berm on Silver Creek and the flow from Morris <br /> Creek has been stalled. Something has changed Morris Creek goes into Eagle Scout Lake but <br /> there is no outflow. They need to clean out the trees and he also noted farther down the NRD <br /> has not cleaned out the trees. <br /> Tom Hanson 3207 Homestead Drive expressed concern about Eagle Scout Lake. He noted <br /> that there at one point the parking lot was flooded. They have questioned who takes care of the <br /> lake the city or the county. They are asking the county for help it was not designed to handle <br /> this amount of water, the ground water table is high and he expressed concern on the level of <br /> the lake. <br /> Mr. Riehle stated that Eagle Scout Lake is managed y the City of Grand Island. This could <br /> involve the City and the NRD. <br /> Bredthauer questioned if the North Road area is going into Eagle Scout Lake and Steve stated <br /> he wants it to drain into Silver Creek and stated they made need to do ditch clean out projects. <br /> E) UPDATE ON AMICK ACRES DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS TO MITIGATE FUTURE <br /> FLOODING — Mr. Riehle stated that they have received a total of 36.99 inches of rain this year. <br /> He showed slides of the flooding and information regarding the rainfall and comparisons from <br /> previous years. He stated that 715 acres of land drains into the lakes and 1 inch of rain is 12 <br /> 6 <br />
