Mr. Ogg stated that the union is appealing to the board to set a committee to address this. They <br /> would rather work this out. <br /> Peterson stated that he served on the negotiations committee and they were aware of the safety <br /> side and they need the equipment. <br /> Mr. Rudolph expressed concern that the vacant position has not been filled and questioned if <br /> there were going to be more layoffs. <br /> Sarah Carstensen stated that she will communicate with the union for a time for the meeting. <br /> 8. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE SALARY DATA FOR THE PUBLIC <br /> DEFENDER AND COUNTY COMMISSIONER FOR THE FOUR YEAR TERM 2021 TO 2024 <br /> Lancaster stated that there is no resolution for the new positions of County Commissioners that <br /> will be effective January 2020. The public defender salary also will need to be set for his next <br /> term of office. Discussion was held to make the increase for the public defender at 1 'A% the <br /> same as the other elected officials. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Hartman seconded to set the public defender's salary with the <br /> 1 1h% increase each year. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson Quandt and <br /> Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to set the county commissioners salary at the <br /> same rate and to freeze the salary. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson Quandt <br /> and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 11. JON ROSENLUND — DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO SIGN COMMUNITY <br /> WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN - Jon Rosenlund was present and stated this plan is a <br /> document that can be reviewed and updated as needed. He appreciates the board's support. <br /> This wildfire protection plan identifies hazards in the various counties and the agencies step by <br /> step plan and the resources and obstacles that may exist. <br /> Bredthauer made a motion and Peterson seconded to approve the plan and authorize the chair <br /> to sign. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson Quandt and Richardson all voted yes <br /> and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> M. Rosenlund stated that they have moved into their new building and the grand opening will be <br /> this Wednesday. Lancaster stated that it is a wonderful building and the county gets. <br /> Chair Lancaster thanked County sheriff Richard Conrad for helping with the Hero flight to make <br /> sure that everyone was safe. The police department also helped with securing Highway 281. <br /> She also thanked Mr. Quandt and the fire department and the Veterans' service staff. This was <br /> the homecoming they should have had. <br /> Held a 5 minute break. <br /> 12. PUBLIC WORKS —A) DISCUSSION & CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL TO PURCHSE <br /> 12 MOTOR GRADER TIRES FROM CROSS DILLION TIRE OF GRAND ISLAND USING <br /> STATE OF NEBRASKA CONTRACT 13000OC — Mr. Riehle stated they need to purchase the <br /> 12 tires. This is the bid from Cross Dillon and hey will match the state bid price. <br /> 6 <br />
