When the asphalt and the concrete was removed they had to but crushed concrete
as fill because there was so much mud. Then they could continue with the rest of the concrete
work. They had to build a base for the concrete.
Peterson made a motion and Hartman seconded to approve the change orders for the sidewalk
at 116 south Pine. He cannot release the numbers but the cost of the limestone vs. the
cost to pour new concrete would be a cost savings.
Quandt questioned why the limestone was going to pieces and Mr. Humphrey stated that not
using the proper ice melt on the steps can cause the problem. A company in Omaha is
researching the type of product to use. This was a maintenance issue.
There is no action needed at this time.
UPDATE ON PARK FLOODING — Mr. Humphrey stated that there was more flooding and the
grass that was replanted was lost and they lost more grass and additional trees.
The park crews are doing a great job of cleaning up. They have the equipment they need and
all of the trees in the public areas are cleaned up and the trees are piled up and the road
department will remove them. They are now looking at the nature trails. They have had some
walkers but the mosquitoes are really bad. It was a good move to close the park. They are still
looking at planting more grass and do not need any more flooding. There are still some areas
where the ground water is high. The park staff is doing an awesome job.
8
