They just do not have the staff to do
this.
Theresa there is public transportation and they do 200 home delivered meals a day. The food
dollars are consistent the dollars for support services have been changed so that is why they
struggle this year they gave a 25 cents raise and were still $20,000.00 short and the $70,000
will help.
Casey stated that with part of the funding in 2014 there was a uniform compliance that came
from the federal government and they had to be followed and in compliance by 2018. In the past
the dollars were funding all of the programs but they cannot do that now. The Senior Center
has fund raisers and contributions that also help support them.
Lancaster ask if any dollars were returned to the state. Casey stated that they try to retain 10%
in order to continue the programs. The Federal government fiscal year ends September 30 so
they retain 10% to continue operating.
Theresa stated that an ombudsman representative was at the last meeting and Theresa
explained the situation why they could no longer be a congregate site because they do not have
the staff to do this and they understood this and reviewed and he was fine with their decision.
Also the Regency board president was notified.
Peterson with the new program at Regency they will have 19 that will get home delivered meals
that qualified and some of the people did not want too.
Casey stated that there are other meal options for seniors.
Jack Wilson stated they hear the same things. Peg Smith stated they had been getting the
meals for 18 years she picked up the meals and served them but she did not temp or address
the serving sizes. She also stated that Evelyn did not come every time it was another staff
member.
Mr. Wilson stated that every time they serve a congregate meal they receive $87.00 and he
cannot see why this is a hardship to the senior center. Lancaster stated that there is a Senior
Citizens meeting August 21st that he can attend.
7.10:00 A.M.
