6
Mr. Riehle stated they could address a separate meeting with the NRD and the city they need to
meet to discuss the issues.
Quandt noted that there was a joint meeting with the health department Monday night and
Jeremy Collinson addressed some of the flooding issue and he ask Mr. Collinson to attend
today and concerns about the septic systems. He explained the issue with a high water table
and the fact that the septic system could come out of the ground. If that happens then they
would have to put in a new system and bring it up to code. He encouraged them to make sure
they put out the systems and use a good plumbing company to do the work. They need to work
together to address these issues.
11 DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE MAAA TOTAL BUDGET REQUEST -
MAAA- Jay Vavricek noted that he has served on the MAAA board and the $19,125.00 was in
their budget if these funds go directly to Senior Citizens they will account for the funding and
report back to the county board. The $70,000.00 that was earmarked last year is also
important. He urged the county board to approve this funding so Senior Citizens can move
forward with any expenses.
Lancaster stated this would be in one line item and the board would know how the dollars are
being spent.
Quandt stated he would like to see the $19,125.00 ran directly through Senior Citizens.
Concern was expressed on the huge raises and then meals were cut for the seniors.
Lancaster noted that the director's salary in 2017 was $47,000 last year it was $61,500.00 and
this year is $75,125.00. The county struggles to give a 1 /2% raise to employees. They want to
make sure that the dollars are spread evenly. The rural communities need the programs.
Richardson stated she would like to see the documentation on the salaries this is a multi-county
agency and she would like to see if they are in line. She does not have a concern on Senior
Citizens using the dollars but the budget was approved and she has concern regarding
changing the funding for an overseeing agency. She would like to have Casey Muzik have a
voice and suggested tabling with for 2 weeks. There needs to be communication.
Dana with Senior Citizens stated that the $19,125.00 has been there and she uses that to
balance her budget. If they run short she can request funds from MAAA. Those dollars are
there to provide support for the home delivered meals.
The vote on the motion to give the $19,125.00 directly to Senior Citizens was taken.
Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt and all voted yes and Richardson voted no. Bredthauer and
Peterson were absent. Motion carried.
Held a Board of Corrections meeting
11:55 a.m. adjourned the Board of Corrections meeting and returned to the regular meeting.
Verna Rae Clampitt from Alda called regarding concern on 2 driveways they had to open
because of the flooding. She questioned if a culvert could be put in the driveways to help.
Steve Riehle stated he will look at the driveways
