Motion carried. <br /> 8B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO REALLOCATE $20,000.00 WITHIN EQUIPMENT <br /> & IMPROVEMENT RESERVE 5-0500 IT DEPARTMENT FROM VMWARE LICENSES TO <br /> WORKSTATIONS — Bredthauer made a motion and Peterson seconded to reallocate the <br /> $20,000.00 in the Equipment Improvement reserve fund from VMware license to workstations. <br /> Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 4. COUNTY ATTORNEY—A) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON PERSONNEL - County <br /> Attorney Marty Klein noted that in his proposed budget he is requesting to hire another support <br /> staff person. He is asking to hire this person right away. They have one open position and <br /> would like to fill that position also. This will address the day to day issues. They have <br /> employees currently work overtime it is at the regular salary up to 40 hours then it is cop time at <br /> time and a half. He would like to hire the support staff effective July 1, <br /> He also want to address the issue with software that they are currently using the current <br /> program is labor intensive. They have always used it but they have to enter the information <br /> from the police department and sheriff department in the names table in order to do the <br /> necessary reports. The new software that they are proposing will interface with the Spillman <br /> program. It will be a large purchase of $120,000.00 but in 3 years he may be able to give the <br /> support staff position back. They have attorneys to address the cases but no support staff has <br /> been hired. He has looked at his budget and found some areas to address saving dollars. <br /> Lancaster stated that Marty has been working within his budget to find dollars and he did not <br /> increase his budget but reallocated some dollars. <br /> Hartman made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve County Attorney Marty Klein to <br /> hire two support staff position for his office. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, <br /> Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 4B) 9:00 A.M. 624/2019 ADDED DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING LAW <br /> SUITE FROM EDDIE CHAMPION & FOP #78 — Deputy County Attorney Sarah Carstensen <br /> noted that this is pending litigation and she is asking how to proceed with the representation. It <br /> was sent to NIRMA and they could appoint an attorney or should they continue with Pam <br /> Bourne. She noted that there is a $20,000.00 deductible under the public official's liability and <br /> after that then NIRMA pays 85% and the county pays 15% of the legal costs. Sarah stated that <br /> Ms. Bourne is familiar with the case and it would make sense to have Ms. Bourne represent us. <br /> Peterson stated that any attorney would have to become familiar with a case and suggested to <br /> ask Ms. Bourne if she would be comfortable representing the county. <br /> Richardson made a motion and Hurst second to ask Pam Bourne to represent the County for <br /> the Eddie Champion case.
