Bredthauer made a motion and Peterson seconded to have Mr. Kissler look at the outside steps
with a refuge area and look at fire suppression on the third floor and work their way down.
Quandt requested to address the two issues separately. Karen amended the motion and
Peterson seconded to
a) Look at the outside steps with refuge area
b) And address the fire suppression on the third floor to start on the first floor and go up
Discussion was held but they need the information at the same time.
Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and
none voted no. Motion carried.
Mr. Hotz stated you will have to build from the first floor up. And he also stated he liked to build
on the back side of the building
B) PREVIEW OF REMODEL WORK FROM DHHS ON 116 SOUTH PINE BUILDING — Mr.
Humphrey stated that they are proceeding with the remodel work at the DHHS building he will
keep the board updated. And Mr. Fredrick's has 2 options but they have not deiced yet.
C) DISCUSSION &POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR TRIM ON
COURTHOUSE WINDOWS in order to install the windows this is a change order to include the
break metal trim on the storm windows. This was left out of the specifications when they were
written. They will not manufacture a window that would go from limestone to limestone the
addition cost is $18,775.00.
Lancaster stated she did look at the windows. Hartman stated they do not have a choice they
have to add the trim.
Quandt expressed concern on the $18,775.00 cost for he trim and questioned why it was left out
of the specs. He also expressed concern on the wood and if it is rotted they will have to fix the
wood. He would like to hold off on the storm windows he would like to replace the entire
window.
Mr. Humphrey stated that he did discuss the issue of fixing the wood and they will work with
them to repair the wood when they have the lift in place. Some of the windows have already
been redone on the inside. The windows on the inside are in good shape and lots of windows
on the second floor were redone. There are at least 5 windows that they will be redoing
themselves.
Richardson encouraged the board to move forward with this it has been going on for long time.
With the new HVAC system they need to address the windows.
Richardson made a motion and Hurst seconded to move forward with the storm windows ad
approve the $18,775.00 cost for the trim on the storm windows.
Bredthauer noted a letter from July 2017 from Ryan Reed and they have to follow the standards
for repair it has to follow the styles of a historic building and with the tax credits the county has
to follow the standards, she read information regarding the replacement windows.
7
