Quandt ask why there is a 2 '/z inch strip on the sides of the window. Mr. Humphrey stated they <br /> are designed that way so they can be removed. Most of the replacement windows on historic <br /> buildings are made that way. There wouldn't be a way to replace them if they were damaged or <br /> to clean the windows. He also questioned the air conditioners and the hoses that are there. <br /> Discussion was held to wait until the board has looked at the windows. <br /> Richardson stated that she looked at the windows and does not have any concerns <br /> Bredthauer made a motion and Quandt seconded to delay the approval of the window sample <br /> for 2 weeks. . Lancaster stated she will not be able to look at the windows today. Bredthauer, <br /> Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt and Peterson voted yes and Hartman and Richardson voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 9. FACILITIES 10:30 A.M. BID OPENING COURTHOUSE DOORS REPLACEMENT—Quandt <br /> made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to open the bids for the Courthouse door <br /> replacement. The following bids were received. <br /> BIDDER TOTAL BID <br /> Island Glass Company $13,130.00 <br /> Grand Island <br /> State Glass Inc. $11,905.00 <br /> Grand Island <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to refer the bids to building and grounds and <br /> come back with a recommendation. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson <br /> and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 12. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING GRAND ISLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY <br /> INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT— Richardson stated that she received an e mail from Tonya <br /> Hansen regarding the library card agreement. It was originally a 3 year contract and then it was <br /> extended for one more year at the $20,000.00 but they did not commit for any additional years. <br /> Richardson suggested that Karen Bredthauer, Dick Hartman and herself be appointed to <br /> negotiate a new contract. They are the representatives on the board that cover the rural areas. <br /> Lancaster appointed Karen Bredthauer, Dick Hartman and Jane Richardson to serve on the ad <br /> hoc committee and come back with a recommendation to the full board. Jane stated she will try <br /> and set up some dates. <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER REPORTS — Mr. Peterson noted the article in the paper <br /> regarding the information from Economic Development regarding the demographics of Hall <br /> County and how it is changing. There will be important issues down the road that will need to be <br /> addressed. The number shows an increasing number of minorities and an aging population <br /> regarding the workforce. This was good information. <br /> Quandt stated that they have held a couple of meetings regarding the railroad tracks on North <br /> Road and he will be bringing information forward. The also wants to address the issue with the <br /> Jake brakes and will be bringing that issue back also. <br /> 6 <br />
