PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF MASTER FACILITIES PLAN JERRY
BERGGREN
Jerry Berggren with Berggren & Associates stated there new faces on the board since he
presented the facilities plan and he wanted to update the members. He also wanted to follow
up on the Federal Building. He noted the executive summary that it is a living document. It is
important to keep the plan current. They have moved forward regarding the Plaza Building
because the county now owns all of the building. They need to make the public aware of the
progress and where the taxpayer dollars are being used. The study is laid out and is very
straight forward.
The Courthouse is bulging at the seams and they need space. They looked at the Federal
Building and there is the issue that they would fill the building and there would be no room for
expansion. They need to keep the plan moving forward and address county court and moving
them to the Annex Building, but there is a security issue with that proposal. They could build
another structure that would provide a single source access. Mr. Berggren stated that if any of
the new supervisors would like to go over the facility plan he would do so.
Mr. Peterson stated that as a board they need to develop a long range plan and revisit this plan
as they move forward. He believes in planning ahead and we have vacant space that is not
being used. Mr. Berggren sated they need to address how the Annex can be used and move
forward.
Jerry stated the moving into the Plaza Building was good progress and they have the surveys
from the other offices and insight from the staff, they are doing good things.
7
