currently in the courthouse but they do not have arrest abilities, so if they need to make an <br /> arrest they have to send a deputy to the Court house to do that. He would like to have a part <br /> time certified deputy position that would cover court security the pay for this position would be <br /> $25.35 an hour and they would work 20 hours a week with no benefits. <br /> The patrol specialists are not protected as law enforcement officers and he is looking at that <br /> issue. He is making full time position 2 part-time positions. His budget will handle these <br /> changes. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve eliminating a full time position and <br /> make 2 part-time positions. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and <br /> Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> KENO GRANT— Lancaster stated that this is an update it was voted on and the fund for the <br /> Cairo Fire Department will come out of keno. It will be a keno grant. <br /> 5 DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON WEED AND HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT— Hartman <br /> expressed concern on the fact that there is a lot of building that is just sitting there. He talked to <br /> Steve about moving some trucks to the weed building and that would allow the road Depart man <br /> some additional space and then they could fix the furnace to reduce the fumes. His <br /> recommendation is to get rid of some of the equipment. Steve stated that he has had <br /> conversation with Rob and the Weed Board. They are going to look at what they have and the <br /> future of the Weed Department. This would be the west bay of the weed department there is <br /> a 30 x 50 spot there that could house the welding and fabrication department of the Road <br /> Department. They can look at different options. <br /> Hartman can keep the weed board and dispose of some of the equipment. There is another <br /> county that is looking at contracting with Hall County. <br /> Harman motion and Quandt seconded to come back with a plan have highway occupy the <br /> space at the weed department. <br /> Richardson questioned if this would be the sprayers and Steve stated he is not sure. Rob was <br /> planning on being here but is ill. <br /> Hartman expressed concern on when the equipment had been used. Steve said the weed board <br /> will look at the future of the department and they will look at what can be liquidated. Hartman <br /> stated this is a good plan. <br /> Vote on the motion Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson <br /> all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT — Bonnie reminded the board to file the accountability and <br /> disclosure forms by March 1st <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS — Lancaster ask the board members to let <br /> her know if anyone wants to go to Stanton to view the site. They may wait until warmer <br /> weather. <br /> 23. APPROVE THE BI WEEKLY PAY CLAIMS AND REGULAR CLAIMS — Quandt made a <br /> motion and Hartman seconded to pay the biweekly pay claims and the regular claims. Chair <br /> 13 <br />
