Discussion was held on the placing of a street light at the intersection of Engleman and Airport
Road. Mr. Hartman and Steve looked at the intersection and he will ask the city to put up a light
on the south side of Airport Road East of Engleman Road.
TRAFFIC COUNTS — Steve stated he is taking traffic counts on 4 gravel roads for future asphalt
surfacing.
1. The 3 miles of Locust Street that are still gravel north of the Adams the County line
2. The 1 mile of 60th Road east of the Village of Alda that is gravel
3. The 4 mile stretch of One R Road that is still gravel between Cairo and US Highway 281
4. The 1 mile of Stolley east of Grand Island that is still gravel
They will look at the traffic counts to see if the county should consider changes to the
intersections.
Hartman ask if they could tell the difference between cars and trucks with the counters and
Steve said the counters identify car, truck, wheel base, and speeds within a reasonable margin
of error.
Bredthauer ask about Binfield Road where they are replacing the bridge with culverts. Steve
said the road is open for local traffic to cross the culverts they are planning to clean things up on
Wednesday. There will be some work to finish after the frost is out of the ground. She ask if
they had the next project lined up and Steve they have not but they could be extending the
concrete box culvert on Rosedale Road or replacing the bridge on Burwick Road north of
Capital Avenue with Culvert pipes.
Bredthauer ask about the engineering with Olsson and they are working on the hydrology and
hydraulics and he is moving forward with that project.
JEO has provided more updates with flows so he can size the culvert and then it will go back to
JEO to complete the culvert data sheet and send it to Nebraska Dept. of Transportation to
design the concrete box culvert.
Hartman thanked the road crew for fixing the mud hole on Old Potash Highway between 1110th
Road and Burwick Road. They were on it the next day and opened up 2 driveways. Steve said
he would pass that on to the guys that did the work. Karen asked if they had fixed a hole in a
culvert just to the east of the mud hole. Steve said he would check on it.
Quandt noted that they met with the railroad and ask about traffic counts on Engleman, North
Road and Webb Road crossing. Steve said that he understood the city was going to get the
counts on North Road and he would coordinate to get all the roads counted.
11. FACILITIES
A) UPDATE AND AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT INFORMAL BIDS FOR WINDOWS AT
OFFICE BUILDING —This was added because of the changes on the county purchasing policy
regarding the informal bids. Quandt made a motion and Richardson seconded to accept the
informal bids for the windows at the Office Building. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster,
Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
B) OPEN INFORMAL BIDS FOR WINDOWS —Quandt made a motion and Richardson
seconded to open the informal bids for the windows. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster,
Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
9
