Lancaster noted that the board had budgeted <br /> $70,000.00 for emergencies. <br /> Theresa Engelhardt and Dana with Senior citizen noted that Midland Area Agency on Aging <br /> provides $40,000.00 each year for expenses that only cover the kitchen and food services <br /> expenses. They receive $3.30 for each meal and $2.45 for home delivered meals. They may <br /> have 200 home delivered meals and 100 people at the center. MAAA does not pay for any of <br /> the utilities in the rest of the building. The transportation is no longer located in their building. <br /> They still have to maintain the parking lots and remove snow and provide salt when there is ice <br /> and there have been significant expenses this year. Theresa stated that she has cut her hours <br /> by 35% and cut the staff but there are still expenses that have to be covered. After discussion <br /> she determined that $15,000.00 would help with the expenses. They would keep track of the <br /> expenses and the remaining budget and balance at the end of the year. She also noted that if <br /> the washer and dryer or convection ovens go out it is their responsibility to replace them. She <br /> has also raised some of the fees for the trips that they take to cover the expenses. <br /> The $15,000.00 would be taken out of the $70,000.00 that the county budgeted. <br /> Lancaster expressed concern on the meal cost that the different counties receive. The seniors <br /> depend on the meals and other social activities. <br /> Bredthauer noted that it is still the responsibility of the Senior Center to clear the parking lots. <br /> Bredthauer made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the $15,000.00 payment to the <br /> Senior Citizens Center but it is not limited to the $15,000.00 and they can come back if needed. <br /> Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Quandt questioned the cost of the meals and noted HyVee get $7.00 a meal and the Senior <br /> Center gets $3.00. He also expressed concern when the senior meals were cut off. <br /> 11:40 a.m. Held a Board of Corrections meeting. <br /> 12:16 a.m. recessed the Board of Corrections meeting and returned to the regular meeting. <br /> 12 FACILITIES UPDATES — <br /> A) COURTHOUSE INTERIOR STEP REPLACEMENT & DISCUSSION TO SET BID OPENING <br /> ON JANUARY 22, 2019— Mr. Humphrey stated that the Board had a contract with Berggren & <br /> Associates for this project and the specifications have been drafted. He has reviewed them and <br /> sent them back. This project will be over $50,000.00 and will need to go out for bid. He will <br /> provide the board members with a copy of the specifications. <br /> B) COURTHOUSE SECURITY UPGRADE this was budgeted to provide better security at the <br /> Courthouse. This will be doing some of the work in house and he is requesting approve to have <br /> 3 of his staff to work 4 10 hour days starting at 3:00 p.m. and working until 1:30 a.m. to pull the <br /> wires. They will have to be walking in the attic above the court rooms. He is requesting to <br /> change the work schedules. <br /> Bredthauer made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve 3 staff at building and grounds to <br /> work four 10 hour days to do the work on the security upgrade. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, <br /> Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 7 <br />
