Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to close the public hearing. Bredthauer, <br /> Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the amusement license for Fonner <br /> View Golf Course. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson <br /> all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 9. UPDATE FROM ADRIAN SMITH'S OFFICE - Jared Reimers was present to give an update. <br /> Lancaster noted that Congressman Smith's office is more visible to local government and <br /> thanked him for his interest. <br /> Mr. Reimers noted that they have started the 116th Congress. He supports local government to <br /> help fix issues and offers help to seniors with the open enrollment process. He is on the ways <br /> and means committee and they are still negotiating with subcommittees. They are working on <br /> the 96 hour rule for health care and trying to allow health care as close to home as possible and <br /> minimize the medical costs in rural areas. They are hoping to allow EMT's to use telemed to <br /> minimize the number of transport and minimize the costs. Congressman Smith's priority is the <br /> opportunity for trade with Mexico and Canada and working on a bilateral agreement with Japan. <br /> He is he cochairman of the United States and Japan Caucus. Mr. Reimers called for questions. <br /> Hartman questioned what they have done for the rural people and stated that agriculture in <br /> Nebraska is bad. Mr. Reimers state that the Senate has not ratified the farm bill but it is working <br /> its way through. Congressman Smith deals with the ag issues with his community outreach <br /> meetings. <br /> Lancaster noted that Congressman Smith has input in the farm bills and we need the trade <br /> agreements. They have to work together. <br /> 6. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING CORRECT TAX STATEMENTS <br /> Richardson stated she was contacted regarding an incorrect amount on the tax statements. <br /> The resolution was correct and the certification to the board was correct but one sheet had the <br /> wrong amount. When it was found it was corrected at the assessor's office but there was a <br /> computer issue and it not change the rate. Kristi contacted Tera Scan and they had to wait for <br /> them to solve the issue. Once that was done a notice was sent and new statement will be <br /> printed. So there was a process set out to make the correction. They will receive copies of the <br /> resolution in the future. They did not process payments until the correction was made but one it <br /> was done they accepted payments. <br /> 10. PUBLIC WORKS —A) DISCUSSION & CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL OF <br /> AGREEMENT WITH JEO CONSULTING GROUP, INC FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING <br /> SERVICES ON HALL COUNTY PROJECT C40(340) — County Engineer Steve Riehle provided <br /> a detailed summary of the proposed agreement for the projects. He stated that this is on Silver <br /> Creek and Airport road the agreement was approved by the board and the grant will pay for <br /> 55% of the construction costs. JEO is doing all of the final work updating the map revisions and <br /> doing all of the FEMA work and the wetland designations that will be done in April. <br /> Hartman expressed concern why Mr. Riehle cannot do the work. He also questioned the <br /> number of employees at public works. He ask why there is money spent on surveying. <br /> 4 <br />
