Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to table the exemption applications filed by <br /> Platte River Whooping Crane Trust for 2 weeks for additional information. <br /> Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none <br /> voted no. Motion carried. <br /> The late ones have been approved and the penalty is applied and if the others that have not <br /> filed submit their applications between now and June they will be approved with the appropriate <br /> late filing fee. <br /> 8. COUNTY TREASURER — DISCUSS & APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR THE <br /> SALVATION ARMY FOR A 2016 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE —County Treasurer Peg Pesek <br /> presented the exemption application for the Salvation Army, 818 West 3rd Street, Grand Island <br /> fora 2016 Chevrolet Traverse to be used to pick up and drop off people from church, youth <br /> groups and community events. They use if for Christmas bell ringers and Christmas kettles, <br /> camps community and business meetings and pastor travel to other communities. She has <br /> recommended approval as per Nebraska State Statute 77-202 and is requesting the county <br /> board to approve. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Richardson seconded to approve the exemption application for the <br /> Salvation Army for the 2016 Chevrolet. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson <br /> and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 9. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING UPDATING LETTER FOR MOTOR <br /> VEHICLE TAX EXEMPTIONS - Ms. Pesek stated that this was brought to her attention that it <br /> needed to be updated. In 2008 the county board requested that this letter was sent with the <br /> annual renewals asking that all vehicles that have a tax exempt status have agency <br /> identification on the vehicles. This needs updated and she asked if the chairman changes if the <br /> letter should be changed. The board agreed that the chairman's names should be changed if a <br /> new chair is elected. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Lanfear seconded to update the letter and ask for identification <br /> on the tax exempt vehicles. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> They also send a letter regarding the abuse of tax exempt vehicles. <br /> 5. DISCUSS &APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR REFEREE SERVICES FOR 2016 <br /> Ms. Pelland stated that this is the same resolution that has been used every year for the County <br /> Board to use referee services. <br /> Richardson made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve resolution #16-030 For the <br /> County Board to use referee services for 2016 with Standard Appraisal and sign the agreement. <br /> Lancaster stated they check the properties, they are licensed appraiser and they have the <br /> training. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes <br /> and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 6. SET DATES FOR REFEREE HEARINGS AND BOARD OF EQUALIZATION HEARINGS <br /> AND FINAL ACTION — Ms. Pelland stated that the informal hearings with the referees will be <br /> held June 13 to June 17, 2016, June 20 to June 24, 2016 and June 27 to July 1, 2016. The <br /> notices will be mailed June 1st and they ca start filing protests June 1st. The referee's will still <br /> 4 <br />
