The current pickup has a blown head
gasket and it just sitting. They have owned this for a long time and he would like to have a
pickup to put a snow blade on and a box for ice melt on the back of the pickup. He has been
watching the federal surplus vehicles but the one sold. He provided quotes for a new pickup.
Bredthauer stated she was glad they were looking a new pickup instead of the surplus vehicle
that pickup has over 100,000 miles on it and it was used to pull a trailer and was well used.
These are quotes from the state bid. The 2018 Chevrolet was $$29,899.77 and the Ford was
$27,987.00 they have $30,500.00 budgeted
Bredthauer made a motion and Arnold seconded to purchase the 4 x 4 Ford pickup from
Anderson Ford for$27,987.00. Humphrey stated the pickup is in Lincoln but the warranty work
will be local.
Richardson stated she would like to wait to see if there are any pickups from federal surplus
that might be available later.
Lancaster stated they found a vehicle for the assessor's office from federal surplus but they will
keep this one a long time and they keep up maintenance. She is fine with a new purchase.
Arnold noted that the state bid does discount the purchase price and they are replacing a 20
year old vehicle and this one is kept for 20 years we have our money out of it. From a business
standpoint the warranty is important.
Bredthauer stated that the federal surplus vehicle was junk it was used for pulling a trailer it is
better to go with a new vehicle.
Richardson stated she would like to wait for a federal surplus vehicle.
Schuppan stated they should continue to watch the federal surplus to see if there are vehicles
that could be used in the future.
The vote on the motion was taken Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt and
Schuppan all voted yes and Richardson voted no.
