Motion carried. <br /> 5b) PRESENTATION FROM CITY CONCERNING A TRANSIT SYSTEM - City Attorney Jerry <br /> Janulewicz was present and noted that because we are now a metropolitan statistical area, <br /> GIAMPO was established to address these changes. They hired a consultant to work with the <br /> City regarding the transit system. There will be budget issues and decision that will need to be <br /> made and there will need to be decision made that will be best for the organization. There will <br /> be funds for urban and rural transportation. They currently have been operating jointly and now <br /> the county needs to decide if they are going to continue operations as they have been or do <br /> something else. <br /> Alan Zafft, MPO Program Manager, noted that the city of Grand Island conducted a transit <br /> needs assessment&feasibility study. The Hall County Public Transportation has been under <br /> the management of the City of Grand Island since July 2016. The focus of the study was a 1 to <br /> 5 year plan and steps for future transit. He noted the 5 steps that were included in the public <br /> engagement. <br /> The transit alternatives recommendations were <br /> • Fiscally Constrained Plan would continue demand response service or status quo <br /> o 24 hour reservations <br /> o Curb to curb service <br /> o Monday to Friday <br /> o 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br /> o 7 to 8 peak vehicles <br /> o $490,000 annual operating budget <br /> o $2.00 base fare <br /> o Branding new look new image new name <br /> o Begin planning work for Intercity bus service <br /> o Coordinate NDOT Vanpool Program and implement Rideshare Program <br /> Illustrative Plan would build from the Fiscally Constrained Plan and would provide flexible route <br /> service the cost would be $602,000.00 with additional start-up costs. <br /> 4 <br />
