Schuppan noted that a lot of extra work was done in Judge Luther's court room because of the <br /> ceiling. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that the ceilings had to be repaired because it was falling down. <br /> Lancaster expressed concern if there is a way these extra costs could be minimized in the <br /> future. Now they will be addressing the county attorney he needs to have adequate space. <br /> Schuppan stated there are still additional dollars that were set aside to cover these extra <br /> expenses. Stacey stated she will address the list and run the numbers. <br /> Arnold stated it speaks well for the contractor that they are willing to go ahead and do the work <br /> and there was approval from the committee. They could not stop the progress of the project. <br /> When you are doing renovations on a 100 year old building there are issues that will come up. <br /> Schuppan stated the project had to move forward. <br /> Lancaster asked if the committee met and addressed the issues and Schuppan stated that they <br /> did. <br /> Lanfear noted that there were a lot of issues that could not have bee foreseen and they had to <br /> keep the project moving. It was a unique project. <br /> Stacey stated the original cost was $2.5 million and the change orders were about 1% of the <br /> total project. The Courtroom ceiling project was a big project. <br /> They will process the claim for the next board meeting to be approved and paid. Schuppan <br /> stated that this needed to be addressed. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that the county office building has been leveled. They went down 40 feed <br /> to find solid bed rock. They will be putting the ceilings in the offices. <br /> Loran stated that they are continuing to lay carpet in the Courthouse and have run into a couple <br /> issues of the plaster falling off the wall and they had to redo the walls. They are painting and <br /> repairing the walls and doing it office by office as they move through the building. It is getting <br /> done but will take time. <br /> Lanfear asked if they determined what caused the county office building to sink. Loran stated <br /> that the roof drain and the cracks in the asphalt was theory why it happened. <br /> Quandt asked if the light bulbs have been replaced and Loran stated they have. <br /> He also asked about the new heating system in the Court house and Loran stated they have <br /> been making adjustments because the weather was so cold. The will continue to make <br /> adjustments to find the correct balance. They also have to address the air flow and the noise. <br /> They will continue to address the issues as they come up. New windows would also make a big <br /> difference. He stated that they can always call the company and they come in and help. <br /> Quandt questioned if the Courthouse roof issue will be addressed and Mr. Humphrey stated that <br /> that will be done. Quandt also asked about the air quality and the carpet replacement and that <br /> will also be addressed. <br /> 10 <br />
