5e CONSIDER &APPROVE CONTRACT FOR ARCHITECTURAL & ENGINEERING
SERVICES RELATING TO INTERIOR REMODEL OF CHILD SUPPORT OFFICE AT
FEDERAL BUILDING —Mr. Zitterkopf and Marvin Webb were present. Mr. Zitterkopf stated the
board has a copy of the contract for the architectural and engineering services. Mr. Webb has
gathered the old plans of the building and has the ability to work before being paid up front. He
has estimates on the costs but does not want to reveal the costs because there will be a public
time and place to approve these and he wants to preserve the integrity of the bidding process.
Quandt made a motion and Lanfear seconded to approve the architectural and engineering
contract.
Stacey stated that there was discussion at the last meeting to take out the restrooms that were
on the preliminary drawing. The modifications can be made and if the staff restrooms are not
necessary they can build walls and call it storage. There was a request for a maintenance
storage room. They noted the changes.
Mr. Zitterkopf stated there was one additional item in the contract it basically limits Mr. Webb's
liability to the dollar amount of the contract. In recent years the liability for architects has
skyrocketed and if they were building a building that involved the structural integrity it may be
necessary but this just involves walls and fixtures so there is minimal exposure.
Lancaster questioned if they were deleting the restrooms from the design and Jack explained
that the exhibit area is left open for future use. The space and the plumbing will be available for
future use and it is reasonable to make the changes now.
The vote on the motion was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt and Richardson
all voted yes and none voted no. Schuppan was absent. Motion carried.
Mr. Webb explained that since they were able to find the CAD files it was a great help because
it eliminated the field measuring.
COUNTY ATTORNEY B) EXECUTIVE SESSION --PENDING LITIGATION.
D) EXECUTIVE SESSION — POTENTIAL LITIGATION—Mr. Zitterkopf requested an executive
session for the pending litigation and the potential litigation. He requested that the Corrections
Director be included
Lancaster made a motion and Purdy seconded to go into executive session for the potential
litigation and pending litigation. These executive sessions are to protect the public interest and
to prevent needles harm or injury to an individual. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt
and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Schuppan was absent. Motion carried.
9:45 a.m. to 10:05. A.m. executive session for pending litigation
10:05 a.m. to 10:43 a.m. executive session for potential litigation
10:43 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to go out of executive session
No other subjects were discussed, no votes were taken and no action was taken. Arnold,
Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Schuppan
was absent. Motion carried.
4
