Lanfear made a motion and Richardson seconded to approve
a) COR#3 CHANGE ORDER FOR $488.71
b ) COR#4 CHANGE ORDER FOR $604.00
21A. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON COURTROOM #1 RENOVATION
During the demolition the ceiling in Judge Luther's courtroom was exposed and there was
discussion to find out how much it would cost to refurbish the ceiling. Mr. Humphrey stated he
has a proposal from the engineer for $194,750.00 the paint was lead paint and there would
need to be additional plaster at about $14,500.00. There would have to be different lighting,
duct work and ceiling fans. Discussion was held.
Quandt expressed concern the costs stated that it is just not practical.
Judge Luther was present and expressed concern that there was some painting and carpeting
that was not in the original bid she does not need her office painted and the carpeting could also
wait. Mr. Humphrey stated that he would make some phone calls and try to get some
clarification.
Lancaster made a motion and Lanfear seconded to table this until later in the meeting.
Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none
voted no. Motion carried.
21 ZONING
a) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON REQUIRING ELECTRICAL PERMITS AND
INSPECTIONS BY STATE - Schuppan stated that the state will do electrical inspections at no
fee if the board approves a resolution. Most counties that do not have a building inspector and
the state will do the inspections.
Quandt stated that he talked to Craig Lewis and you do not have to adopt all of the state
electrical codes. Now they just inspect new service to a building not the rest of the house.
Lancaster expressed concern that it may cause some delays if they have to wait for the state
inspectors. She questioned why the County would not receive the permitting fees and collect
them and use the fees to defray cost and just use the codes that the city uses. Discussion was
held to set up a committee to decide what plumbing and electrical codes that would be used and
then bring a recommendation to the county board.
Schuppan asked why they wouldn't just have the state do the inspections. He stated he would
like to have some input from the villages.
Quandt stated that Mr. Lewis said the county could call him about any of the electrical codes
that they have adopted. There should be more information regarding the building inspector in 2
weeks.
Ms. Richardson reported that they are getting information on the floor plan for the federal
building and hope to have it completed in 2 weeks and she asked if the board wanted to see it
again.
Lancaster stated that it would be nice if the board was updated they have already approved the
application.
7
