11B) DISCUSS AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING SAFETY MEASURES AT THE <br /> INTERSECTION OF GUNBARREL ROAD & BISMARK ROAD - Darcy Moul 4720 Tara Court <br /> requested to reserve time she expressed concern that the rumble bars were placed there on <br /> one eye witness account and also noted the petition that was signed. She stated that the <br /> rumble bars were modified on Thursday of last week and it has not changed the noise issue. <br /> Mr. Moul 4720 Tara Court also questioned why there were installed and stated he would like to <br /> see a flashing light instead. <br /> Alan Svitak 4719 Tara Court stated he has not noticed any difference and stated he support the <br /> flashing light. <br /> Richardson stated she was sorry they had to wait so long and thanked them for coming. She <br /> stated that it appears that the rumble bars were not needed and there were only 3 accidents in <br /> 10 years. It was a mistake and a flashing light would be the best option. <br /> Richardson made a motion and Lanfear seconded to install the flashing red light and remove <br /> the current rumble bars. <br /> Schuppan stated that the county has other locations of rumble bars and there may be more <br /> flashing red lights requested. <br /> Lancaster noted that she did drive the area and there was noise and she also talked to a <br /> resident of the area and shared with him the letter from NIRMA. She supports the flashing red <br /> light. She expressed concern about the railroad tracks and stated they need to be addressed, <br /> Purdy expressed concern that this may be setting precedence for other areas and stressed that <br /> they will be removed on the Hall County side only. Jim Graves is from Merrick County and he <br /> sits on the NIRMA board. <br /> Lanfear stated this is common sense they are just fixing a mistake. <br /> Arnold stated he agrees they should have not been put in this was a recommendation from a <br /> single person and he does not know of any other intersections in the city limits that have the <br /> bars. <br /> Purdy noted that there was a study done and there were 1200 cars a day and it may be a matter <br /> of time before something happens. <br /> The voted on the motion was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt and Richardson voted <br /> yes and Purdy and Schuppan voted no.
